MICROMINE Africa is Paving the Way with University Workshops

MICROMINE Africa held a two-day training workshop at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) during October. Marketing Coordinator for MICROMINE Africa, Craig Sternslow, introduced students to the MICROMINE brand and how the MICROMINE solutions fit into the value chain of the mining industry. MICROMINE Africa Training and Support Consultant, Kayleigh Cooper took the students through the Introduction Course offered by MICROMINE. The training started with auditing and managing a drillhole database and continued all the way to building and displaying wireframes.

The students were hugely enthusiastic about the many features of MICROMINE! Dillan Fitton, one of the attendees, commented that this was his first time working in 3D, which was quite an eye-opener. He added that the training gave valuable insight into the digital future of geology and that it was very user-friendly compared to other packages he has used.

Lizzie Tau loved the way that the info and data are organised, while Viwe Notole also found it extremely useful. The best part for Gijimani Motau was using the cross-sectional tools.

He also pointed out that the training had exposed students to important new skills to better prepare them for the workplace.

A big thank you to Dr. Albertus Smith and UJ for motivating all the honours students to attend. Also, a huge shout-out to Kayleigh and Craig for being so passionate about our solutions. You were a true inspiration, and helped open the students’ eyes to the digital future of mining. #MMPavingTheWay
